Introducing studio.sdb
studio.sdb is new kind of architectural practice.
Founded by Shannon Demicoli Battisson and based in Canberra, we strive to make good design more accessible to more people through:
Homeowner design consulting services – design workshops to optimise your house plans
Corporate consulting services – from Board and Committee positions to government advisory roles
Architectural services – for the design and delivery of new homes and bespoke renovations
Who is Shannon Demicoli Battisson?
Shannon is a registered architect with more than two decades of experience across the residential, commercial and educational fields. She founded The Mill: Architecture + Design in 2010, and launched studio.sdb in 2025.
As well as delivering homes and commercial projects, she’s played a key role in policy and regulatory development through board positions, including as the current Chair of the Australian Construction Industry Forum (ACIF) and the Australian Institute of Architects Foundation. She’s also contributed towards important advocacy and lobbying efforts as a Chapter and National President of the Australian Institute of Architects.
In 2025, she was invited to present her unique approach to restoring mid century modern homes at the 20th anniversary of the famed Modernism Week festival in Palm Springs, California.
Shannon has a passion for sharing the benefit of good design and is a regular contributor to publications such as Houses Magazine and Architecture Australia.
Shannon currently lives in a solar passive contemporary home in Denman Prospect that she designed for her young family. And she is currently overseeing the restoration of Rivendell, an internationally renowned piece of organic modernist architecture designed by her late mentor Laurie Virr – as their next home.
